Where do vehicle crashes most commonly occur in the Pittsburgh area? The Allegheny County GIS team recently developed this interactive 2014 crash map that shows crash locations, highlights roads with 10 or more crashes, and reveals possible causes of the crash as well as information on injuries and fatalities. Separate maps filter for crashes involving cyclists and pedestrians. While the data originally came from PennDOT, WPRDC hosts open data on vehicle crashes since 2004 on the crash dataset page. Community groups are working to use this data to inform policy and safety improvements in our region.
